James A. Lehman
James Lehman is Professor of Economics
at Pitzer College, a member of The
Claremont Colleges. He received his B.A. from Davidson College and
his M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University.
He has been at Pitzer since 1981.

International trade policy and trade relations, trade sanctions, trade
and aid.
Personal statement:
I was drawn to Pitzer by the prospect of working with colleagues across
disciplines and across the Claremont Colleges, as well as with eager and
talented students. That was more than 15 years ago, and the attraction
hasn't changed. Although most recently I spent two years as Acting Dean
of Students here and two years as Executive Director of the Thomas J. Watson
Foundation, administering the Watson Fellowship Program, I am happy to
be back to a full-time regimen of teaching and advising, writing, and revising
courses and planning new ones. Of course there's much more to the picture,
so stop by and hear about Max and Sophie's soccer exploits, or the latest
from the trails in the Angeles National Forest, or listen to some Gabrieli
or walk over to the Grove House and chat over coffee and enjoy the Pitzer
Arboretum.
