BEYERS NAUDE

I constantly ask myself, how is it possible that a community, in this case a white community, deeply religious, claiming to be devoutly Christian, building its whole life---or claiming to build its life, and also its political structure---on the recognition of God's sovereignty as it is stated in our constitution; how is it possible that we could, for instance. Remove forcibly three and a half million people from their land, from where they live, from where they had settled down, from where they were happy as a community, force them into arid, remote areas where the possibility of livilihood, of income, of existence is in fact so small that for all practical purposes it is a process of slow death which they are facing.
