In reply to your letter of the 27th instant, I beg to advise you that articles of clothing and food are funrished to inmates of this institution by the Government. There would be no objection however to Mr. Berkman bringing his own slippers, sweater and underwear. The sweater should be either of gray or dark blue or black color. Bedding of all sorts will be funrished by the insitution Paper and pencils for necessary wirk will be furnished him here and if he desires such for other purposes he can purchase them from some dealer in the city here whenever required.
