naturally, with the restriction that he would have been good, and he wouldn't have recognized the earth's immobility.- Who knows?... If I had been born a hundred years later, I would have taken you as a subject of my study, with your fight against Rasmus Nielsen's philosophy of transaction (1). To sum it up, in Brand, there is more concealed objectivity than anyone, so far, has unravelled. Concerning my qualities as a poet, I stand on solid ground.
In my new comedy (2) you will find a familiar tone: no violent emotions, no deep feelings and mainly, no ideas which are stangers to action. The reproach that with all reason you make regarding some arguments of "Los pretendientes a la corona" (The pretenders of the crown), where it is the author who speaks, has produced its effect. Its criticism of you- and I beg you to interpret this as the best expression of my gratitude- has been for me what Mons Wingaard's chronic meant for Jacob de Thybo (3). I have read it sixteen times and then again another sixteen times, and I believe it will be very useful to me "in order to fight many battles."
I anxiously await for your judgment on my new work. It is written in prose; therefore, it is completely overlaid with realism. I have looked out for the form and have taken up the great task of avoiding all monologues, as well as any argument "aside".
But that doesn't prove anything. With this, I warmly beg you, if you have a free moment, that you read it, and tell me what you think about it. Whatever the veredict, you will have something good for me, since here I am completely isolated. The volume will not go on sale until the fall. The wait will be very long until then!
