GOALS OF THE COURSE

• To become familiar with Darwin's writings regarding 'descent with modification'.

• To be conversant with some of the empirical data that support Darwin's theory.

• To gain experience communicating ideas and data, both in writing and via oral presentations.

• To develop critical skills that will allow you to "consume" popular media reports on evolution in a way that leaves you less vulnerable than most people to the confusion that such reports can sow.
