To learn to approach readings from more than one disciplinary perspective at the same time.
To become familiar with the scientific data that has called into question the concept of innateness.
To avoid the pitfalls of naturalizing contingent phenomena.
To learn to write coherently in a way that addressses the concerns of both historians and biologists or behavioral scientists.
To understand how seemingly neutral concepts of human nature influence politics and policy.
