Medicinal: Leaves and stems of “salisifolia” were used for eyewash, to relieve toothaches and as a hair wash to prevent baldness and as a rinse to restore thinning hair. A poultice was applied to bruises, wounds, and insect bites.

Leaves and stems were also boiled into a decoction and used as a feminine hygienic agent.

Construction: Limbs and branches of Tokormahar were used in the construction of small family sweathouses and for house construction.

Utensils/ Weapons: Stems were used to make arrows.

Baccharis salisifolia is a willowlike shrub.

It blossoms most of the year and can be found mostly below 3500 feet along water courses; Coastal Sage Scrub, Chaparral; 'Tchunash ( Santa Barbara ) and Pimu ( Santa Catalina Islands ).
