Professor in Sociology and Chicano Studies
Received his A. A. degree from Northeastern Jr. College in Sterling, Colorado; B. A. in Communications from the University of Colorado, Boulder; M. A. and Ph.D in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.  He has had a long history as an organic intellectual: connecting his academic work with community organizing, student-based service learning, participatory action research, multi-ethnic coalition-building, and critical pedagogy.  He has been at Pitzer College since 1991
