REQUIREMENTS FOR PSYCH 112
Everyone
will be expected to complete the following REQUIREMENTS:
- (10%)--Class
attendance and participation.
- (10%)--Homework assignments (other than proposal drafts).
- (10%)--First draft (Introduction).
- (25%)--One midterm examination.
- (10%)--Second draft (Introduction & Method).
- (20%)--Final research proposal (Introduction/Method/Results/Discussion).
- (15%)--Oral presentation.
ABOUT ATTENDANCE/PARTICIPATION: You will be expected to attend all classes and to have read the assigned readings prior to coming to class; only in this way will everyone be able to contribute meaningfully to class discussions.
ABOUT HOMEWORK: Homework must be handed in on the date due to receive credit.
ABOUT
PROPOSAL DRAFTS: Copies of your first 2 drafts and of your final
research proposal should be submitted to me as well as to your first
(and possibly second) thesis reader(s); you should receive feedback
from all of us. During the semester, you should work in close conjunction with your reader(s) to develop the design of your project.
At the end of the semester, you will each be expected to present your
research proposals along with your pilot data (in the form of a
PowerPoint presentation) to the psychology faculty as a whole.
ABOUT
THE MIDTERM: Everyone will be required to take the midterm examination;
mark the date on your calendar, because no make-up tests will be given
(except in cases of certifiable emergency).
LATE
ASSIGNMENT POLICY: Proposal assignments (including both drafts and the
final proposal) are due at 5:00 p.m. on the dates noted on the
syllabus. Assignments turned in from 5:01 p.m. that day until 5:00 p.m.
the next day will be assigned a grade that is 5 (FIVE) points below
what the assignment would have received had the assignment been turned
in on time. Assignments turned in from 5:01 p.m. on that day until 5:00
p.m. the next day will be assigned a grade that is 10 (TEN) points
below what the paper would have received had the paper been turned in
on time. And so on. There will be no extensions, and no further
discussion (except in cases of certifiable emergency).
