“A stone bungalow around a mango tree”
Olympio’s respect for and integration of nature in her design is seen in the Actor’s House. Here, one can also see how the architect integrates natural materials with a more modern, less “rustic” look than some of other projects. The earth walls, the stone, and the wood are warm to the eye and the touch, soaking up the sun. But the lines of the house are crisp, and its composition is balanced, centered, reminiscent of Renaissance design.
Inside is the stone floor the client requested in a large living room; the division between inside and outside almost goes unnoticed. The house sits far back on its large plot of land; a swath of grass and a stone driveway leading up to it, providing ample views. The view from the top of the living room extends all the way to the end of the grounds at the main road.
